JaxBrits. We are all meeting today 21st February 2009 at Eric Ramshaw's house and we should be about 50 in number. Eric and Kathy Ramshaw and Bob & Gillian Pearce and Barbara and Patrick Lockyer have been heavily involved with getting Brits together since a first meeting St Georges Day 2006. We have had several meetings in our homes and in pubs and in the park at Mandarin and had a good time. The six of us steering 'committee', for want of a different name, have discussed making the group more formal. We have discussed a 'name' and whether to have a 'venue' and that would allow us to think about regular meetings and parties and even an annual 'Pantomime'. We would like to have our own website eventually and I personally favor a short name for that purpose and JaxBrits does it for me. Of course we would need a discussion. Other possibilities have been suggested. Do we also form a proper committee and incur costs and therefore require funding? I personally feel that two levels of membership might be best. First I would make JaxBrits open to 'anyone' on the web or in the world. I would like it that 'anyone' have access to our information and then a more compact group within that one that would enjoy the benefits of regular meetings and 'covered dish' events and parties etc. That 'inner circle might need to be a self financing group for a small 'non profit' sum. Barbara and I would make this page available to all members for inclusion until we have a separate website or if we decide to just use 'writeboard' which is free. I propose that any content on this page, after this, is run by the steering group for appraisal before publishing. Any other issues or comments can be directed to me or Eric or Bob. I believe we all have each others email addresses. Writeboard is a good medium for discussion if you dont want to give out your email address but just want to leave a comment on a discussion we might be having. JaxBrits.com would be a great website with the fewest digits to remember or JaxBrits.info which is likely to be cheaper. I had three sites on AOL that the company passed on the ENomCentral which fortunately turned into three, three page sites each costing $7.50 for two years and only $10 to buy more years. Consequently this page for JaxBrits is our pleasure to provide until we make other choices. Consider it the JaxBrits page until then. Patrick & Barbara
